The 2007 Oregon legislature passed a law requiring individual and group insurance policies to cover prosthetic and orthotic devices medically necessary to maintain the ability to complete activities of daily living or essential job-relatedactivities and that are not solely for comfort or convenience.
The Oregon Insurance Division recently published a proposed rule that would require those policies to cover the same devices in the Medicare fee schedule. The public may comment on the rule until November 6, 2007.
